Being in front of a huge audience is a great responsibility and sometimes nerves take their toll, such as the situation experienced by the Mexican singer María León when she made a mistake during the intonation of her country’s national anthem before the match between the San Diego Padres and San Francis Giants.
As part of the México Series that is held at the Alfredo Harp Helú stadium in Mexico City, one of the attractions was to show the world of baseball all the customs and celebrations of the Hispanic culture and for this reason María León made an appearance, who in addition to being a vocalist she is also an actress and songwriter.
However, what seemed like a perfect afternoon for her turned into a nightmare when she forgot part of the national anthem and ended up getting it completely wrong.
The moment was widely shared on social networks and León suffered a strong attack from Internet users who criticized his presentation and his lack of empathy with the national lyrics.
Although León’s case was widely discussed on the web, the truth is that his presentation was not the first in which the singer made a mistake or forgot the lyrics.
In the past, other names such as Jenni Rivera, Coque Muñiz, Luis Ramírez, Ana Bárbara (on a couple of occasions) or Vicente Fernández (the latter making mistakes and even changing the lyrics) were also shaken by criticism for “disrespecting” the verses.
In the end, the error remained a mere anecdote in the game in which the San Diego Padres beat the San Francisco Giants 6-4 and won the series after Saturday’s 16-11 victory.
