A New York subway rider was stabbed in the abdomen with an ice pick in what authorities called an “unprovoked attack.”
The victim, a 38-year-old man and his 43-year-old friend, were waiting on the northbound J train platform at the Crescent Street station in Cypress Hills at about 4:15 a.m. on April 19 when they developed the crime, reported the New York Police Department.
The offender approached the two subjects and stabbed the 38-year-old man in the abdomen with the ice pick.
Officials said the suspect followed the two men before boarding the northbound J train, Fox 5 NY reported.
The stabbed person was taken to the Interfaith Medical Center in stable condition. His friend was unharmed in the attack.
Authorities released a surveillance camera photograph of the perpetrator and asked the general public to provide them with information about the stabbing case.
The criminal is described as a dark-skinned man, approximately 35 years old, with a height of six feet and weighs about 180 pounds.
During the attack, he was seen wearing a gray hoodie, gray sweatpants, and black sneakers. Also, he was wearing a white backpack.
