The Southern Command of the Ukrainian Army declared this Sunday that the explosion registered in the port of Sevastopol, on the Crimean peninsula, is part of the preparations that Kiev is carrying out for the expected counteroffensive to recover all the territories of Donabas and the peninsula annexed by Russia in March 2014.
According to reports from the Ukrainian secret service, the explosion was probably caused by a drone. This fact destroyed ten tanks with 40,000 tons of fuel destined for the Russian Black Sea Fleet. “This work is part of the preparations for the comprehensive, full-scale offensive that the whole world is waiting for,” said Southern Command spokeswoman Natalya Humenyuk.
Ukrainian troops are already beginning to show signs of the counteroffensive in the south of the country, in which kyiv has the goal of recovering all the territories invaded by Moscow and the recovery of sovereignty over the peninsular territory of Crimea. The spokesmen for Ukraine have already started the attacks on the banks of the Dnieper river against the logistics of the Russian forces, a strategy that already worked for them last fall in Kherson.
Humeniuk affirmed that the counteroffensive is already advancing slowly, with small but sure steps. The spokeswoman assured that the Ukrainian forces interfere with the combat capabilities of the enemy, destroying their ammunition depots and the concentration points of military personnel.
According to the spokeswoman, the attack on the port has made the pro-Russian authorities on the occupied peninsula and Moscow feel that “the threat is real.” Since the entire movement of the counteroffensive began at the end of last month, the Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, affirmed that all the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine will be liberated, for which he threatened the Russians that: “There is still time to leave Or we will destroy them if they don’t fall back.”
