new-jersey-couple-arrested-after-driving-into-police-patrol-car-and-threatening-to-kill-officers

A New Jersey couple were arrested when the husband allegedly crashed his car into multiple police cars while the wife threatened to kill officers in Evesham Township in an incident that took place early Sunday.

Officers were at the scene of a vehicular accident in Evesham Township, New Jersey, when a Hyundai Genesis that investigators say was traveling at 80 mph in a 45 mph zone appeared to pick up speed as it passed officers.

Officials described the vehicle to other officers in the area. After the couple’s car was seen on Willowbend Road at the Evans Road intersection, an officer attempted to make a traffic stop, the driver of the Genesis, who was identified as 24-year-old Marc Ferraiolo, failed to stop and ran a light. red.

The officers also stopped pursuing the man because of the risk he posed to them and the public, detectives said.

Subsequently, an Evesham Municipal Court judge was contacted and a warrant for his arrest was issued. Officers later responded to Ferraiolo’s Evesham Township home to serve the warrant and arrest him.

Officials said Ferraiolo stopped in his driveway and his wife, Ruth Patton, 43, got out of the car as police pulled up behind the Genesis. The officers told the man to get out of the vehicle, but he did not comply.

Ferraiolo allegedly drove forward and put his car in reverse, sped out of the driveway and nearly ran over the officers. Additionally, he struck a police vehicle with a K9 officer inside, NBC New York reported.

The fact was partially captured by a Ring video.

Ferraiolo drove through the empty gardens and deliberately rammed his vehicle with the K9 patrol inside three more times before trying to escape. He then struck another responding police car before continuing east on Marlborough Avenue, rendering the Genesis unusable in the process, authorities said.

The officers approached the vehicle, broke the window and removed the man. Ferraiolo received medical treatment at the site and was later taken to a hospital for evaluation.

During the event, Patton apparently interfered with the actions and threatened to kill the police officers. She was detained at the site.

Several officers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were treated at the scene. The K9 officer is recovering at the vet.

Ferraiolo faces charges of attempted murder of a police officer, aggravated assault on police, eluding, criminal mischief and battery on a police canine. For her part, Patton is charged with terrorist threats and obstruction of justice.

The couple was transferred to the Burlington County Jail.

Neighbors of Ferraiolo and Patton said Sunday’s altercation was the breaking point in a saga that changed their lives.

“They’re neighbors from hell,” said Kate Stiles, a neighbor of the couple. “It could be a TV show right now.”
