Walmart customers could get a nice payout, as the company announced that it will be required to pay $4 million to its customers who have purchased a gift card that was later frozen.
The US Department of Justice announced that the company was responsible for the loss of millions of dollars in gift cards that had been purchased by customers.
It turned out that a group of thugs, through different tactics, tricked victims into going to Walmart and buying gift cards. The same that the criminals used as payment, since it is not easy to track them when they collect them.
Gift cards were between $500 and $1,000.
Faced with this increasing way in which scammers demanded payments, Walmart decided to freeze gift cards that were suspected of being part of a scam. However, I never return the money to the clients.
Because of this, the United States Department of Justice asked the company to refund the money from the cards to the affected people.
The Department of Justice filed a lawsuit for the forfeiture of $3.95 million in gift card balances frozen by Walmart. And now this money is now available for referral payments.
Each affected customer will receive the amount of money they had on their gift cards before they were frozen.
To be eligible, you must have purchased a Walmart gift card between April 2016 and July 31, 2017.
To receive a payment, consumers must submit a remission form by July 14, 2023.
To fill out your form and demand your money, you must go to the Top Class Action website and click on the “Click here to file a claim” button.
