The Deportivo Cali players did not train this Tuesday to protest because the team owes them the salaries of the last two and a half months, while evaluating the possibility of not playing this Wednesday against Boyacá Chicó.

“We support our colleagues from the Cali squad, in their decision not to train this Tuesday, May 16 due to the non-compliance of the managers in the payment of the monthly income, for two and a half and three months,” said the Colombian Association of Professional Soccer Players. (ACOLFUTPRO).

The union added that the non-payment of salaries “has been seriously affecting their interests and those of the families that depend on them” and that the situation has been “reiterated” for several months.

Those led by Jorge Luis Pinto, did not train this morning at the practice headquarters, to which the president of the Azucarero team, Luis Fernando Mena, went to have a meeting with the players but instead of agreements the tension between both parties increased .

According to local media, the footballers have stated that if they are not paid they will not play this Wednesday against Boyacá Chicó, a game that corresponds to the last date of the regular tournament of the Colombian league.

Deportivo Cali, which has been runner-up in the Copa Libertadores, is going through a period in which the results are not with it. It occupies the 14th box with 22 points among the 20 teams that play in the league.

In addition, it is one of the teams that can no longer advance to the next phase where Millonarios, Águilas Doradas, Atlético Nacional, América de Cali and Alianza Petrolera already have a quota.

While Boyacá Chicó, Independiente Santa Fe, Deportivo Independiente Medellín (DIM), Deportivo Pasto, La Equidad, Junior and Deportes Tolima will fight this Wednesday for the last three spots in the semifinals.
