Yellowstone National Park rangers found a woman dead inside a car at Craig Pass, about three miles south of Old Faithful Geyser.

The car had apparently been driven into a snow bank last Saturday, and when rangers responded to “an incident” at the scene, they saw a man standing outside the car, the National Park Service said in a statement from press published Monday afternoon.

The man was later arrested on drug possession and trafficking-related charges, the National Park Service reported.

The National Park Service did not release the identities of the woman or the man who was arrested at the scene.

The road between Old Faithful and West Thumb Geyser Basin was closed for about 24 hours while investigators surveyed the scene, but it reopened Sunday night.

The Service reported that there is an ongoing investigation and is being carried out with the support of the FBI and the US Attorney’s office.

This is not the only incident recently reported in Yellowstone National Park; last year, a human foot was found floating in a shoe at a hot spring in said park.

It was seen by a local employee and an investigation has since been launched, but officials later identified the foot’s owner using DNA.

The unusual story unfolded at Abyss Pool which lies to the west of the West Thumb Geyser Basin in the southern part of the park. In a statement, the park stated that the incident likely occurred on the morning of July 31, 2022, and involved only one person.
