A moment of suspense occurred recently at a minor baseball game in Jacksonville, Florida, when a small whirlpool of sand appeared unexpectedly and quickly engulfed a small player who was fortunately rescued by the head umpire.

The shocking moment and the surprising images were recorded in the live broadcast of the event and later went viral on social networks. There you can see how at ‘home plate’, one of the 7-year-old boys took his turn at bat while another of the same age, served as catcher, suddenly a dust storm formed that attacked the latter.

Fortunately, the umpire, a teenager, had good reflexes and managed to quickly get into the whirlwind and carry the little boy in his arms to get him out of danger. Immediately the wind current dissolved and the child could be cared for by his parents who helped him clean the dirt from his eyes.

The incident occurred during the fourth inning of the game between the FCAA Indians and the PVAA Sharks. Fortunately, everything ended in a scare and later the young referee was applauded by the audience, most of them parents of the players.

Florida, is one of the states that registers the most wind phenomena per year and experienced it in the Jacksonville countryside is an example of this, although obviously this did not mean a real danger to those present, much less compared to the tornadoes that have affected this region in recent years.
