An Iowa resident came close to throwing away a scratch-off lottery ticket, but instead opted to scan it while shopping for a sandwich. This choice turned out to be correct, since the ticket had a prize of $100,000 dollars.

According to the information portal 11 News, Stacy Frisby, a 43-year-old woman from Waterloo, won the cash prize from the “Hit it Big!” of the Iowa Lottery.

“I was actually going to throw away the $10 ticket because I didn’t think I was a winner,” Frisbey said Friday as she claimed her prize at the state lottery office in Cedar Rapids.

The decision to keep the ticket proved to be a lucky one, as Frisbey managed to land the sixth jackpot in the Scratch-Off game. According to lottery officials, she purchased the ticket at the New Star store in Waterloo.

While on her way to another store to buy a sandwich, Frisbey opted to scan her ticket into a lottery machine. It was at that moment, that she realized that she was $100,000 richer.

Frisbey told lottery officials that he intends to use his new fortune to take a vacation and start a business.
