This Tuesday, the governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, disappointed those who want to see him as a candidate for the White House for the year 2024 and for the Republican party, after he did not mention his candidacy in an act held at a Protestant church in the county Broward, Florida, which he attended surrounded by representatives of the three Florida powers, ended without the expected announcement.

According to the American portal Realclearpolitics, the president of the United States, Donald Trump, and candidate again for 2024, has an average advantage of 34.4 points over the second best placed for the primaries, which is DeSantis, who has 20% support compared to 55% for Donald Trump.

Former President Trump has made his intention to participate in the Republican primaries official, where former Arkansas governor Asa Hutchinson, former South Carolina governor and former ambassador to the United Nations (UN) Nikki Haley and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy. Although DeSantis, one of the favorites of Republican voters, they have not appeared in the electoral contest.

At that same event, DeSantis again mentioned President Joe Biden’s new immigration policies. “Joe Biden’s border policy has greatly damaged society,” DeSantis stressed, after recalling that in the last year human trafficking on the southern border of the United States has increased by 50%. Recently, the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, denounced that Ron DeSantis is taking repressive, inhumane measures against migrants in Florida because he wants to be a presidential candidate for the Republican party.

DeSantis decided to impose a series of laws in the state of Florida that will toughen the penalties for undocumented immigrants who work in that state and criminalize companies and citizens who help those who do not have legal status in the United States. The new law contemplates up to 15 years in prison for anyone who transports irregular immigrants to Florida, as well as fines for employers who hire undocumented immigrants.
