Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Wednesday that Russia is not aware of the details of the peace proposals presented by African countries and Brazil, but is willing to study them, unlike the West. Minister Lavrov affirmed that these are initiatives generated by the sincere desire to help stabilize the world order. “There are other peace initiatives, that of Brazil, that of the president of South Africa. In both cases we responded to the calls of the parties of our Latin American and African friends that we are willing to study their proposals,” said the Kremlin representative.
Last Tuesday, the South African head of state, Cyril Ramaphosa, said that his government will put on the table this weekend the presidents of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, and Russia, Vladimir Putin, the deployment of a peace mission of African leaders to find a peaceful solution to the war.
The African nation will present an initiative on behalf of the African heads of state from Zambia, Senegal, Congo, Uganda, Egypt and South Africa. India has been one of Moscow’s main trading allies since the start of the war.
The Ukrainian president was willing this Sunday to listen to initiatives to achieve peace in the war caused by Russia’s invasion of his territory, but stressed that it should be based on the ten-point plan presented by Ukraine.
