On June 1, recipients of the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program are expected to get payments that can be up to $914 for eligible individuals.
In June, two payments will be made. The first will be on June 1 and the second on June 30.
The amount of money each person will receive will depend on how they filed their taxes, whether as individuals, partners, or essential caregivers of people receiving supplemental social security payments.
According to the Social Security Administration, individual taxpayers receive $914 per month, couples filing jointly receive $1,371, and essential individuals receive a monthly payment of $458.
What are Supplemental Security Income payments?
The SSI program provides monthly payments to individuals adults and children with blindness or other disabilities, whose income is limited. These payments are awarded in addition to regular Social Security benefits.
To be eligible for SSI, a person must meet one of the following requirements: be over age 65, partially or totally visually impaired, or have physical or mental conditions that severely limit daily activities for at least 12 months, or that are estimated to result in death.
Payments are normally disbursed on the first day of each month, although this may vary if the first day falls on a weekend or holiday.
If this occurs, the payment is sent on the last business day of the previous month.
