Two boys, ages 13 and 14, have been charged with murder for allegedly shooting taxi driver Kofi Addo in the head during a robbery in New Jersey.

Addo, a 57-year-old resident of North Brunswick, was fatally shot in Franklin Township on the night of Thursday, May 11, after the two defendants and a 13-year-old accomplice hailed a cab with the intent to rob the driver, they alleged. Somerset County prosecutors on Monday.

They allegedly hailed the cab to an address on Rose Street, about a 10-minute drive from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, just before 10 p.m. Thursday, authorities said.

When the armed teenagers got into the taxi they confronted Addo and tried to rob him before one of the teenagers shot the defenseless taxi driver in the head as he was driving, prosecutors said.

After being left without a driver, the taxi crashed into a car parked in a driveway on Sydney Place and the young occupants fled on foot, authorities said.

First responders took action to save the life of the victim who was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead, it said. ABC News.

Detectives found the suspects in Franklin Township and New Brunswick a day later, he said. New York Post.

The two teenagers accused of murder were also prosecuted for conspiracy, weapons and robbery. A 13-year-old accomplice is facing robbery charges. None of them have been identified.

The suspects were held at the Middlesex County Juvenile Detention Center and awaited an appearance in Family Court.

All charges are mere accusations and those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
