The current coach of FC Barcelona, Xavi Hernández, was one of the best midfielders of his generation. Now as a coach, he revealed which one of the current footballers he likes the most and it is Joshua Kimmich, who plays for Bayern Munich.
In an interview for the German newspaper Sport Bild The Spanish strategist explained how he began to follow Kimmich’s career and all the admiration he has for him, cataloging him as one of the best in his position today.
“One day I was talking to Pep Guardiola and he told me that he had a player who could literally play in any position. I asked him who he was and he named me a guy named Joshua Kimiich. From that day I began to follow his career, ”Xavi commented for the German newspaper.
The world champion with Spain took the opportunity to praise the 28-year-old midfielder and issue a discreet invitation to dress as a Barça player.
“Since I saw him play, I knew he could be a great player and now he is. He can really play in any position. He would be a perfect player for Barcelona”, launched Xavi, openly showing his interest in the German midfielder in joining his current squad.
Kimmich currently has a contract with the Bavarian entity until June 2025, it is not ruled out that the midfielder could change teams in this market and go to Barca as a replacement for Sergio Busquets, although the culé club would have to pay close to $90 million dollars for him, according to the valuation of the Transfermarkt site.

This DT admiration for Kimmich is reciprocal, as the player has sometimes said that Xavi is one of his role models in football. “My role model has always been Xavi Hernández from Barcelona. He was never the greatest, but he acted with vision, he took care of the pass and the technique. He tried to put other players in the spotlight. He impressed me and it was what he wanted to guide me towards. I got to know him during our concentration stage in Doha 2019 and I must admit that it was a great experience”, said the German in an interview for SportBild.
