'checo'-perez-was-scolded-by-helmut-marko:-“it-was-a-stupid-mistake-on-his-part”

The advisor of the Red Bull team, Helmut Marko, launched a harsh scolding against the Mexican Sergio ‘Checo’ Pérez, after the crash he had at the Monaco Grand Prix, and which led him to start in last position.

“If you have a car like that, you shouldn’t be out in Q1. That was a stupid mistake on his part,” Marko said in an interview with Sky Deutschland.

“Maybe I was thinking too much about the championship,” said the advisor ironically when asked about the causes of the accident.

In Q1 of the Monte Carlo Circuit, the Mexican made a wrong maneuver and hit the barrier at the exit of Sainte Devote.

The accident caused heavy damage to the RB18 and the competition only remained in the hands of Max Verstappen for Red Bull.

After the fact, ‘Checo’ assumed responsibility for the incident, assuring that it was “a very hard blow to the staff”.

On the other hand, Verstappen ended up winning the competition, followed by the Spanish Fernando Alonso from Aston Martin and Esteban Ocon from the Alpine team.

Now the Dutch pilot increased his advantage in first place with 119 points, 14 above his teammate ‘Checo’ Pérez.
