A large shipment of cocaine in packages with the Nazi symbol and the word “Hitler” inscribed on the drug inside were seized in Peru.
Peruvian drug police seized 58 one-kilo (2.2-pound) packages with Nazi images hidden in a shipping container containing asparagus.
The discovery occurred yesterday in the port of Paita, on the north Pacific coast of the country, according to the local newspaper El Canciller.
The drugs were found on the Liberian flag ship SC Anisha R which had previously anchored in a port in Ecuador, according to a police report obtained by the Peruvian media.
The shipment was destined for a port in Belgium. Other containers were being searched for more drugs.
Peruvian authorities have previously reported finding cocaine in brick-shaped packages with various strange symbols, but never one of the Nazi German flags.
The country is believed to produce around 100 tons of drugs a year, most of it going to Europe by sea.
Peru is the world’s second-largest producer of coca leaf, according to the United Nations, and the world’s second-largest producer of cocaine, according to the US Drug Enforcement Administration.
