A knife fight in the East Village, New York, had a violent outcome, leaving one man dead and another injured on Saturday night, May 27, according to information from the NY Post newspaper.

The deceased was identified as 31-year-old Michael Gillegbower, who was found at 10:15 PM this Saturday in front of a building, located on East 10th Street, with multiple knife wounds to his torso.

Authorities took him to Mount Sinai Beth Israel Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, according to the NY Post.

Police also found another man injured at the scene, and he was taken to Bellevue Hospital. As of now, this man is in stable condition.

The identity of this person has not yet been revealed, and it is unknown if he was formally charged with murder for what happened, although information from CBS News indicates that he was indeed arrested.

The reason for the fight, according to the police, was an argument between the two men, which led to them attacking each other with knives.

Police statements indicate that two knives were found at the scene of the fight.

Gillegbower, according to statements and interviews offered to the NY Post, was engaged in bicycle repair in the neighborhood.

The event caused great commotion in the neighborhood, as all the neighbors could see a pool of blood in the middle of the streets.
