three-dead,-five-injured-after-shooting-between-motorcycle-gangs-in-new-mexico

Three people were killed and five more injured after a gunfight between members of two motorcycle gangs in New Mexico, authorities said.

The New Mexico State Police indicated that the three deceased were members of the gangs called Bandidos and Water Dogs, as were the two injured.

The deceased were identified as Anthony Silva, 26, Damián Breaux, 46, and Randy Sánchez, also 46, who are New Mexico residents.

Two died at the scene of the shooting, while the third died after being transported on Saturday night.

The shooting occurred during the annual Red River Memorial Motorcycle Rally, which has been held for 41 years on the long Memorial Day weekend and draws thousands of riders.

Red River Mayor Linda Calhoun imposed a curfew on the night of the shooting, even though it happened in the afternoon.

“What happened is very tragic, but the police action has been incredible. The first officer of the State Police was there in 30 seconds,” said the mayoress.

As of now, the case remains under investigation by the New Mexico State Police Bureau of Investigation, which asked citizens who witnessed the shooting to contact detectives.

Witnesses told KOB4 that the police closed all the bars and restaurants on the main street of Red River, and numerous first aid and police vehicles began to arrive in the area.

According to the state police, the New Mexico hospitals where the injured are admitted were reinforced by security members, although they did not specify the reasons.
