Jack Bissell, a former chef at the five-star restaurant at the Beaumont Hotel in Mayfair, broke into actor Benedict Cumberbatch’s London property, where he threatened him from outside with a knife.
According to TMZ, the 35-year-old cook managed to sneak into the main gate of the “Doctor Strange” actor’s residence, where he managed to break the intercom.
Later, Bissell began to yell, knife in hand: “I know you moved here, I want it to catch fire.” According to police reports, he also uprooted several plants and threw them into the garden.
Cumberbatch was with his family inside the residence when the altercation occurred. He was accompanied by his wife, Sophie Hunter, and his three children.
“Naturally, the whole family was terrified and thought this guy was going to come in and hurt them. Fortunately, he did not go too far. Benedict and Sophie have not been able to sleep thinking that they could be attacked again.
“The fact that it was an apparently premeditated intrusion makes it all the more frightening,” an anonymous source told the Daily Mail.
Bissell, who has already had problems with the law in the past, was arrested hours after the fact. Apparently the police arrested him after finding traces of his DNA outside the mansion.
This isn’t the first time the chef has had run-ins with Cumberbatch. In fact, at the beginning of May, the actor obtained a restraining order against the cook, which prevents him from approaching him and his family for three years. This new altercation would be breaking that order.
To date, despite this background, Bissell has not explained why he is so upset with the actor or why he continues to intimidate him.
