Lawyer Camille Vasquez, known for representing Johnny Depp in the case against his ex-wife Amber Heard, is part of Gloria Trevi’s team of lawyers who will work on the civil lawsuit for alleged child sexual abuse that the singer faces in the United States.
Through an interview with the Newsweek portal, it was confirmed that the lawyer is working on the defense of the interpreter of “El Recuento de los Daños”, whom she accompanied at one of her concerts in Mexico City and to whom she points out “admiration , respect and support.”
In the article in the middle, the lawyer was clear when talking about several differences in favor of Trevi, considering that her case is very far from the accusations and sentence that the former socialite Ghislaine Maxwell received, who was involved in the sexual crimes committed by Jeffrey Epstein.
“I think people will be surprised to learn that this case couldn’t be more different than the Ghislaine Maxwell case. The real defining difference for me is that Gloria Trevi was a minor when she met Sergio Andrade. She was 14 years old when she started being abused by him.
“While I think the plaintiffs and some people will want to paint her with the same brush, it is a very different case. She is about a young woman who was abused, kidnapped, controlled and sexually assaulted by this man for years when he was a minor, as were the other victims, including the plaintiffs,” Camille Vasquez told Newsweek.
The closeness that Johnny Depp’s lawyer has had with Gloria Trevi has even been recorded on stage, as Vasquez shared that he had the opportunity to see the Mexican at the National Auditorium during one of his concerts.
“In fact, I saw her perform in Mexico City. I was there last week (May 11). She is an amazing and outstanding artist…she danced her for three hours straight, she didn’t take a break. I think she had maybe seven or eight costume changes.”
“Watching her made me realize that performing and writing songs, and returning love to her fans, and to them who love her so much, is her therapy. It is her way of dealing with the abuse that she suffered and survived, “said the lawyer.
Camille Vasquez considers the issue facing the Mexican to be painful, adding that the artist is heartbroken by the accusations against her.
Likewise, the lawyer sees an opportunity for change in Trevi’s legal situation, since she considers that public opinion has given force to the accusations against the singer.
“I think that, at present, we are now seeing a response to culpability by indictment. I think the pendulum has probably swung too far. And people are now taking a stand. Whether it is a legal position or a public statement… We are seeing a wave of those situations in this country (USA), at least in terms of the specific real ugliness of this case, because it involves pedophilia, ”he explained.
She feels confident representing Gloria Trevi
The lawyer shared that she has evaluated the case together with Gloria and her husband, which has given her the opportunity to feel very safe to represent her.
“After meeting with them (Trevi and her husband) and evaluating the case, I felt very convinced to represent her…She was imprisoned for almost five years, that was really a violation of human rights, and she was exonerated of these horrible accusations many years ago. years”.
“However, she simply cannot escape the cloud hanging over her being. It’s important to me to be able to represent the people I believe in and whose stories need to be told.”
In addition to Camille, another large part of the legal team that worked on behalf of Johnny Depp will be part of the ranks that will represent Gloria Trevi, which includes names of Vasquez partners and associates such as Leo Presiado, Steve Cook, Ben Chew, Jessica Meyers and Sam Moniz.
The first hearing related to the lawsuit facing the singer is scheduled for July 28, due to a motion filed by her legal team to reveal the identities of the two plaintiffs.
“The story must be told in the right way and the truth will come out, from Gloria’s own mouth, and these other victims, who are also victims, but not of Gloria, but of a person who is the true villain and monster of the story. ”, concluded the lawyer.
