The technical assistant of Querétaro of the Liga MX, Javier Yacuzzi, died this Monday in Mexico at the age of 43, according to reports from the Roosters club itself.

The information was published on the Querétaro Twitter account, where they thanked Yacuzzi for the time dedicated to the work he did at the institution.

“Forever in our hearts. Fly high, Yacu. Rest in peace. Thank you for absolutely everything,” wrote Querétaro.

The former Argentine soccer player worked as an assistant to his compatriot, the coach of the so-called Gallos Blancos, Mauro Gerk, the club from the center of the North American country reported on Monday.

Yacuzz was part of the Gerk Tank work team since he came to the bench for the Apertura 2022 tournament.

Versions of the local press indicate that Yacuzzi, born in Buenos Aires, died after contracting an unidentified virus, while preparing the Gallos to face the Clausura tournament, which will begin at the end of next June.

The former winger helped rebuild the club, one of the lowest-budget among the 18 in the Mexican first division. In the last tournament the team finished in tenth place, the best Gerk has achieved since he took over.

Los Xolos de Tijuana was the only team in which Yacuzzi played outside of Argentina. In his country he played for Platense, Tigre, Gimnasia y Esgrima, Tiro Federal, Arsenal de Sarandí, Huracán, Rosario Central, Defensa y Justicia, and PEF Matienzo, with whom he retired in 2017.
