gold-necklace-lost-during-the-sinking-of-the-titanic-is-found-among-the-wreckage-of-the-ship

A team discovered a gold necklace that hadn’t been seen since the sinking of the Titanic in 1912.

The necklace was found in the wreckage of the ship off the coast of North America, and they even hope to find the family of the jewelry owner through the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The discovery information comes from Magellan, a UK-based deep-sea mapping company, which recently released a selection of digital scans showing the wreck of the RMS Titanic in never-before-seen detail.

In a follow-up to this news, the company explained how its stunning high-quality images show a gold necklace made from the tooth of a Megalodon, a huge extinct species of shark.

Richard Parkinson, CEO of Magellan, described the discovery as “amazing, beautiful and impressive.”

“What is not widely understood is that the Titanic is split into two parts and there is a 3 square mile field of debris between the bow and stern,” Parkinson told ITV News. “The team mapped the field in such detail that we were able to identify those details,” she added.

The project gathered a massive 16 terabytes of data detailing the wreck site, including more than 715,000 images and full 4K definition video footage.

They did this by sailing to the wreck, some 435 miles off the east coast of Canada, and then used remotely operated submersibles to image the seabed at a depth of around 3,800 meters (12,500 feet) below the water’s surface. .

An agreement between the United Kingdom and the United States prevents members of the public from removing artifacts from the wreck and the surrounding bed.

Therefore, Magellan’s team was not allowed to touch the wreckage at the bottom of the sea and had to leave the necklace in place.

In an attempt to find the owner of the jewelry store, Magellan is using artificial intelligence to contact the families of the 2,200 passengers aboard the Titanic when it sank.

RMS Titanic was an ocean liner that sank in the North Atlantic Ocean on April 15, 1912, after hitting an iceberg during her maiden voyage from Southampton in England to New York City.
