Juventus of Turin reached an agreement with the Federal National Court of the Italian Federation (FIGC) to advance the trial for the one related to the movements it made during the pandemic in which it made suspicious payments to player representatives and reached secret agreements with other clubs in Italy.
According to reports from Italy, the ‘Vecchia Signora’ has reached an agreement to plead guilty for the aforementioned offenses, which has given rise to the trial being brought forward for this Tuesday, May 30.
It should be noted that this is a trial different from that of the ‘Plusvalía case’ for which Juventus claims to be innocent despite the fact that it has been penalized with a 10-point discount in the standings for the current Serie A season, which has caused to be left out of the next edition of the UEFA Champions League.
Likewise, it must be clarified that although they are different trials, both are part of what is known as the ‘Prism Investigation’, which has had the Turin team in the eye of the hurricane and which has made their season look worse than it It has been in every way.
Why are they prosecuting Juventus?
The reasons for taking the Italian team to court were, in this case, the illegal salary maneuvers that the club carried out with certain players during the pandemic, suspicious payments to player agents and secret agreements with other Italian clubs for player transfers.
The trial was set for June 15 but, as reported by the Italian media on Monday, ‘Juve’ would have reached a plea agreement with the FIGC Federal National Court that would have caused the trial to be held this Tuesday.
The objective of ‘Juve’ would be none other than to end all judicial processes as soon as possible and receive the possible sanction -economic, sporting or of both types- this season to be able to start the one that comes strictly focused on sports, with their sights set on finishing in the top four to return to the Champions League.
The sanction that Juventus will receive in the coming days, according to the Italian media, could be, in sporting terms, a maximum of two points in the standings, while in economic terms a large fine is expected.
