The three-time Pro Bowl with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Le’Veon Bell, confessed on Monday what he felt when using marijuana before some NFL games.
“Looking back that’s what I did. When he played soccer he smoked. Even before games, he would smoke and go out and run for 150 yards and two scores,” Bell recounted on the ‘Steel Here’ podcast.
It is worth noting that the former running back, who is currently listed as a free agent, was suspended twice for violating NFL regulations on substance abuse.
Those punishments occurred when he played for the team led by coach Mike Tomlin between 2013 and 2018.
In 2014, he was arrested for possession of marijuana in suburban Pittsburgh. However, he almost immediately obtained his parole.
He also tested positive for multiple NFL drug tests during that time, prompting the Steelers to repeatedly remove him from the field for urine tests.
Despite the above, Le’Veon Bell stood out during the six seasons in which he played with Pittsburgh, with which he obtained his three Pro Bowl designations, added 5,336 yards and 35 touchdowns.
After playing with the Steeles, the 31-year-old veteran emigrated to the New York Jets, a team in which he remained between 2019 and 2020 with less convincing results.
“I came to New York and found that head coaches make a world of difference. The team wasn’t that great, don’t get me wrong, but I feel like if Coach Tomlin had coached that team we would have won at least nine games,” he recounted.
Midway through the 2020 campaign, he immigrated to the Kansas City Chiefs; In 2021 he played for the Baltimore Ravens five games, he finished that season with three games at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Despite the fact that he missed the 2022 season, the former selected in the second round of the 2013 Draft stated that he is not retired.
“I would like to return to Pittsburgh and be able to show everyone that I can still play,” he concluded.
