A Florida woman was arrested after her vehicle ended up stranded on a beach, as can be seen in images released by authorities.
The woman was charged after authorities reported that she nearly ran over families on a beach in Smyrna Dunes Park last Saturday, “narrowly missing parents and children.”
The Volusia Sheriff’s Office reported that Sarah Ramsammy, 26, of Orlando, has been charged with DUI (Driving Under Influence) and reckless driving.
Helicopter and body camera footage released by authorities showed a blue vehicle parked on the beach being pummeled by sea waves.
As mentioned by the authorities, in the video Ramsammy is seen in a green T-shirt standing next to a passenger who was also in the vehicle, where she says she is “not sure” what happened.
“I was the driver, and they stopped us, and they said we almost ran over a child. I didn’t think we would, but that’s what they told us,” Ramsammy says in the video.
“We were just trying to turn around, we didn’t think we could do a U-turn here, so we were just trying to keep going,” he continued.
Ramsammy was detained by the authorities while an investigation continues to find out the exact causes why the vehicle ended up partially in the sea.
