Chandina Jean, an unlicensed driver, allegedly caused a chain reaction crash in Brooklyn involving an MTA bus, injuring 15 people, one seriously.

According to NYPD, Jean was driving a Chevrolet Impala when she rear-ended a Toyota SUV near Essex St. and New Lots Ave. in East New York around 8:30 p.m. Sunday. The impact caused the SUV to be thrown forward and into a waiting Ford Escape next to a stop sign. That vehicle struck a passing B15 MTA bus.

Doctors treated 15 injured, including Jean (23). An unidentified 44-year-old woman who was riding in the Impala with her was taken to Brookdale University Hospital in critical condition.

All the others, including the drivers of the other three vehicles, suffered minor injuries. Jean was taken to Jamaica Hospital and charged with unlicensed aggravated operation of a motor vehicle and possession of a forged instrument, she said. Daily News.

The cause of the multiple crash remains under investigation. All charges are mere accusations and those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

The New York authorities recall that there is zero tolerance for drivers who speed and/or drive under the influence of alcohol.
