Thanks to two goals from Argentine Mauro Icardi, Galatasaray managed to be crowned champion of the Turkish league, an achievement that had not been achieved for four years.
This Tuesday, Galatasaray managed to beat Ankaragucu 1-4 on matchday 34 of the Turkish Super Lig, establishing itself in the first place of the qualifying table.
This is the 23rd title that the Istanbul team has won, this time with great help from Mauro Icardi, who joined the team in September after being loaned out by Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
The Argentine has been fundamental for the team in the last part of the season, in which he managed to score six goals in the four games leading up to the match against Ankaragucu.
And for this match, he only needed seven minutes, after the initial whistle, to score the first goal, after finishing off a cross from the right wing inside the area.
Nine minutes later, at minute 16, the Angolan midfielder from Ankaragucu Milson responded, establishing the 1-1 scoreline that momentarily postponed the “alirón” of the red-and-red team.
But Icardi was not willing to allow anything or anyone to keep him from winning the league title and in the 38th minute he put Galatasaray ahead again (1-2) by finishing off with a spectacular header Kerem Akturkoglu center.
In the second half, they rounded off the victory for the visitors, in which the Uruguayans Fernando Muslera and Lucas Torreira were once again headlines, the striker Baris Yilmaz, who signed the 1-3 scoreline in 73, and the Portuguese Sergio Oliveira, who established five minutes later the final 1-4.
The win allowed Galatasay, in which the veteran Spanish attacker Juan Mata plays, who did not come off the bench, to win a league title that had resisted him since the 2018/19 season.
