The Los Angeles Galaxy fired its president Chris Klein on Tuesday after the club added just two victories in fourteen days in the US MLS and remained bottom of the Western Conference, the club said in an official statement.
The decision was made by Dan Beckerman, president and CEO of Anschutz Entertainment Group, the company that owns the Los Angeles franchise, one of the most glorious in MLS.
“As a club we have not achieved our goals or lived up to the standards we have set for the Galaxy. We believe this change is in the best interest of the club,” Beckerman said in statements provided by the club.
The Galaxy opened a process to find a new board of directors that allows the “club to return to the level that the fans expect.”
The Los Angeles franchise started the MLS season with the highest ambitions and with stars like the Mexican Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández and the Spanish Riqui Puig.
However, the season began with two wins, three draws and nine losses in fourteen rounds and the team is bottom in their conference.
The next game for the Galaxy will be this Wednesday at the Real Salt Lake field.
