This Tuesday, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) decided to cancel the gala dinner of its foundation, in solidarity for the serious moment of health that its goalkeeper, Sergio Rico, is going through, after the accident he suffered this Sunday with a horse in Andalusia.
The event, which was scheduled for tonight, was canceled by decision of the president of the Parisian team, Nasser Al Khelaïfi.
Through a statement on social networks, PSG reported that the decision was “painful but inevitable”, due to the “worrying state of health of goalkeeper Sergio Rico”.
“The current situation requires our full attention and forces us to give up our traditional gala,” Al Khelaïfi said.
He also commented that “the great family” of PSG is “deeply affected by the drama” that the goalkeeper and his relatives are experiencing.
“On behalf of all the club’s teams, I want to guarantee our full support and my greatest consideration in this drink,” he added.
This Tuesday the eighth edition of the foundation’s gala dinner was to be held, in which the achievements of its programs in favor of children in difficulties are presented.
Sergio Rico is admitted to the ICU of the Virgen del Rocío Hospital in Seville, which this Tuesday indicated that he continues to be sedated and without significant changes since Monday, when in a medical report he had indicated that his condition was serious and that he was being treated by specialists from Intensive medicine.
The 29-year-old footballer received several blows from a horse that he fell off when he was participating in the El Rocío pilgrimage. After his time at Sevilla, where he was trained, he went through English Fulham, and was later hired by PSG, who loaned him out to Real Mallorca last season. He has returned in the season that now ends with the Parisian team, in which he has usually been a substitute.
