One of the top references of the Colombian team in recent years has been James Rodríguez, the midfielder was a key player in the classification of the coffee growers to the 2014 World Cup and even finished as the top scorer in that tournament with 6 goals.
recently in an interview for WinSports the captain of the colombian team released his list of the best players who have worn the national team’s jersey and the names surprised, in addition to including himself among the best.
“I am going to give you the top 3. But in the order that you want to put it. Falcao, David Ospina and me”. He released the soccer player when asked about what he considers the best Colombian players in history.
He also argued a bit about his decision and stated that: “David Ospina is the one who has played the most with the national team and has saved us many times, he has to be there.” Rodriguez launched. “Falcao for what he has given us, the numbers that he has are extraordinary and he was the best 9 in the world.”
The names caused some controversy since they did not include “old school” players like Carlos Valderrama, Faustino Asprilla or Freddy Rincón. To this James replied that: “They are players that I respect a lot, but the top 3 of mine is that. Maybe someone else has theirs and it is respectable, ”he closed.
Currently, James Rodríguez, at 31, is the second top scorer for the Colombian team with 26 goals in 90 games, only behind Radamel Falcao who has 36 goals in 101 games.
Uncertain future
James has just finished his contract with Olympiacos in Greece, where he did not have a good run. He only scored 5 goals in 18 starts. Currently some reports link him with teams like Brighton or Crystal Palace in the Premier League and even that he could go to the Turkish league.
However, despite not currently having a team, Néstor Lorenzo, the coach of the Colombian team, summoned him with the national team for the next FIFA date where Colombia will face Iraq and Germany.
