Since 2005 the tennis player Rafel Nadal had participated in each and every one of the Roland Garros that were played, this 2023 edition will be the first without the Spaniard playing it, who is also the top winner of the competition with 14 trophies.
The reason is clear, Nadal is 37 years old and he has already stipulated that 2024 will be his last year as a professional tennis player, so in 2023 he wants to carry out a “regeneration” process to return stronger in what will be his last steps in tennis. .
But while the 22-time Grand Slam winner goes through that process, he does other activities. Like golf, which he has been practicing for a couple of years and this time he will participate in The Battle of Stars tournament.
The event will take place in Mallorca from June 22 to 24 at the Pula Golf Resort and Son Severa Golf Club courses in Cala Millor.
Last year Nadal had already participated in a golf tournament in which he was runner-up, it was the Alcanada Mid Amateur. The Spaniard signed 77 strokes on that occasion, surpassed by Federico Páez who finished with 69.
Back to the rackets
For now, Nadal does not have a return date, although he did point out the possibility of looking to play in the Davis Cup Final in Malaga in mid-November. Everything if the Spanish team qualifies and he feels in a position to help the formation that will be captained by David Ferrer.
