us-coast-guard-searches-for-man-after-falling-from-cruise-ship-in-florida

This Tuesday, members of the United States Coast Guard began the search for a 35-year-old man, after the board of the Carnival Magic cruise ship fell when they were 186 miles off the east coast of Jacksonville, Florida. In a statement posted on Twitter, the rescue agency stated that they use air and sea resources in this operation.

The authorities and Carnival Cruise Lines have not yet given the reasons why the victim fell from the side of that company cruise ship. According to local media, at the time of the accident the cruise ship was crossing the eastern coast of Florida, after leaving the port of Norfolk, Virginia on May 25.

According to a statement from Carnival Cruise Lines, the man was reported missing by his companion on Monday afternoon. An initial review of CCTV security footage confirms that he leaned over the balcony railing in his stateroom.

The 35-year-old victim, whose identity was not revealed by the shipping company or by any authority, would have fallen into the water in the early hours of the morning. A Coast Guard spokesman said the Carnival Cruise Lines cruise ship does not have to participate in the rescue efforts and that the ship will arrive in Norfolk on Tuesday afternoon.
