man-goes-out-in-the-middle-of-the-night-to-buy-his-wife-chocolates-and-wins-$50,000-in-the-lottery

A Kentucky man by the name of Jason Dunn was running a late-night errand for his wife who was craving chocolate, decided to buy an instant ticket too, and ended up winning $50,000.

Dunn told lottery officials that his wife was bummed out and craving chocolate one night, so he went to Flaherty’s Service Center in Vine Grove to buy her some.

While there, he decided to purchase the 500X Scratch-Off ticket.

“I only buy tickets once in a while, when I have extra money. This was the first time I bought the $50 ticket,” Dunn said.

Authorities said she got in the car and scratched off the first number on the ticket, revealing that she had won $5,000.

“I called my wife and said, ‘We made some money, I don’t know how much yet,’” Dunn said.

The happy winner told lottery officials that his wife didn’t believe him when he broke the news, so he went home to finish scratching off the ticket with her.

As they scratched they revealed more winning boxes. “My wife took out the calculator and started adding everything up,” said the lucky winner.

Ultimately, they discovered that the ticket netted them a total of $50,000.

Lottery officials said the player walked away with a check for $35,750 after taxes.

Dunn plans to buy a car for his recently graduated son and help him with moving expenses. He then plans to save the rest.
