An Iowa man named Matthew Rus won $60 in a lottery game and chose to try his luck by buying a lottery game book.
Matthew Rus, who bought the game book for $20 at a store in the town of Pella, was scraping the games out of the book late one night. He felt that he should go to bed, but he wanted to continue playing.
The man continued to play and it turned out that he ended up winning big on the last page of games in the book.
“I got to the last page of the book and I said, ‘I need to go to bed,’ so I scratched off the barcode, scanned it, and that’s when I saw I’d won $10,000,” Rus told Iowa Lottery officials. when he went to collect his prize, as reported on Yahoo.
The $10,000 prize is one of 15 top prizes on offer in the game. There are also 15 top prizes of $100,000.
Rus said he will use his new fortune to buy a new washer and dryer.
They told lottery officials that he was still a bit shaken up after his win. “It’s overwhelming,” he said.
