Maryland state authorities charged five suspects, allegedly linked to MS-13, who were charged with the murder of a 15-year-old boy identified as Limber López Funez earlier this year. This was reported by the Fox News news network.
The suspects were identified as:
1) Ismael Iván Rivera Canales, 20 years old.
2) Alexis Alfredo Ayala López, 21 years old.
3) José Roberto Ramos López, 22 years old.
4) Elmer Bladimir Reyes Reyes, 28 years old.
5) Ismael López López, 29 years old.
According to statements from the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, reviewed by Fox News, the five suspects are not US citizens and were in the national territory irregularly.
The head of the Frederick Sheriff’s Office, Jason Lando, indicated through a press release that Limber López Fúnez was first reported missing in late February.
“Our team spent countless hours following leads and conducting searches throughout the county. We hope to find Limber alive, but unfortunately, that didn’t happen,” Lando said, according to Fox News.
Limber López Funes was reported missing by his family on February 25, and his remains were found on April 24 in the Gambrill State Park area.
Each of the five suspects linked to the death of López Funes was charged with first degree murder. “We know we will not be bringing Limber back, but we hope that the arrests in this case can provide closure for the López Funes family,” Officer Lando stressed.
A Frederick detective told Fox News Digital on Thursday that all the suspects are allegedly members of the criminal organization MS-13 (also known as Maras Salvatrucha).
Despite the arrests, the investigation is still ongoing, and the motive for the murder has yet to be revealed publicly.
Due to their irregular status, the suspects will be turned over to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) once they have served their local sentences. This was reported by the Sheriff’s Office, according to Fox News.
