Anna Elicia Pérez, a Florida police officer, is facing charges for associating with another woman with whom her partner was also in a romantic relationship to beat up the man.
The other involved, identified as Mila Zuloaga, is seven months pregnant.
Both face assault charges after the attack on the boyfriend they unknowingly shared last Friday after midnight at a Palmetto Bay business.
Pérez, 34, and Zuloaga, 35, surprised the subject inside Miller’s Ale House while yelling at him unfaithful.
The women beat the man, who has not been identified, multiple times in the face and torso. The individual ended up with several bruises and an injured lip.
The officer and the pregnant woman intentionally hit the victim in the face and upper body with their hands on several occasions, Miami-Dade police said, according to CBS.
On Monday, Alfredo Ramírez, director of the police for that demarcation, expressed in written statements that he was disappointed with the actions of the agent, who at the time of the events was off duty.
“We are held to a higher standard of conduct inside and outside of business hours. Even though this officer was off duty, her behavior is unacceptable and I saw it go against the core values of our department,” Ramirez said.
Pérez was relieved of her duties while the state prosecutor’s office reviews the case.
