A man shot a Hispanic man twice in the head last night outside an East Harlem (Manhattan) housing project and then drove away on a motorcycle, in what police called an “execution” style attack.
The victim was identified as Damien Calderón, 38, father of two daughters. He miraculously he survived the shots. Paramedics took him to NY Health and Hospital Harlem, where he remained in critical condition last night, according to the NYPD.
Calderón had just finished serving a prison sentence and was looking forward to life as a free man, he told Daily News his older brother, Alfred Bernard (45). “He recently came home from prison… He was in a program cleaning the streets, he was fixing his life.”
“It looks like an execution,” said an officer on the scene. The victim was standing across the street from the NYCHA “Thomas Jefferson Houses” residential complex on E. 115th St. between 1st and 2nd Av. at 7:39 pm Wednesday when the gunman fired two shots, striking him in the head, according to police sources. After firing, the gunman got on a scooter and fled the scene.

In a similar case, a 42-year-old man died after receiving 10 shots at the entrance of a building in The Bronx (NYC) on the night of Monday the 29th, Memorial Day.
