kirby-assures-that-aid-to-ukraine-will-continue-despite-what-happens-with-the-debt-ceiling

One of the White House spokesmen, John Kirby, assured whatever happens in the United States Congress on the draft law to raise the national debt ceiling, the government will not suspend the ability to support Ukraine, which has been a of the priorities of the Joe Biden government, since the beginning of the invasion against the allied country. This information was corroborated by Kirby after announcing a military aid package of 300 million dollars.

According to the spokesman, this package includes ammunition for drones and anti-aircraft defense systems, such as the Patriot, which have been key to the Ukrainian anti-aircraft defense during the course of the war in the last six months.

Ten days ago, President Biden also announced a new military aid package to Ukraine on Sunday during a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart in Japan, during a G7 meeting. With this announcement, the United States will disburse new weapons, defense systems, ammunition, and logistics material worth $375 million.

The constant military spending of the United States to help Ukraine has been a constant criticism by sectors of the Republican party, since it would be a factor for the economic crisis that the country is going through. However, the United States House of Representatives confirmed its support for the pact between US President Joe Biden and Republican leader Kevin McCarthy to raise the debt ceiling.

Therefore, the project will now go to the US Senate, five days before the deadline set by the Treasury Department is reached. A large majority of lawmakers, both Democrats and Republicans, voted in favor of the measure, with a total of 314 votes (165 Democrats and 149 Republicans).
