Fredrick French and his wife, who live in the city of Charlotte, had a big change in their lives after winning $200,000 with a scratch-off lottery ticket, as reported by the North Carolina Education Lottery.
“Now I can pay for my house,” said the lucky winner, according to Fox 8.
French bought his $5 Lincoln Scratch-Off ticket at the Xpress Shop on Sunset Road in Charlotte. The player said that he couldn’t believe it when he saw the size of the prize from him.
“I actually thought there were no more top prizes left on that one. I guess I know now,” French said.
French said he scratched off the ticket at home while his wife was by his side. “I almost went crazy. He had to get me a bottle of water to help me calm down.”
French arrived at lottery headquarters on Tuesday to collect his prize. After required state and federal tax withholdings, the winner ultimately pocketed $142,501.
“Sooner or later I knew I was going to win a grand prix like this,” French said.
He said that in addition to paying off his house, he plans to buy his wife a car and share some of the money with their children.
