A man from the town of Lawrenceburg in Kentucky had a surprise when he returned home from a camping trip. It turns out that he bought a lottery ticket called Grillin’ & Chillin’ for $5, and upon scratching off the ticket he discovered that he had an additional $75,000 in his pocket, as reported on Yahoo.
The winning ticket was purchased by the player at the Frankfort Valero service station. The man decided to buy the ticket using $5 dollars that he had previously won with another instant ticket.
According to the Kentucky Lottery, the odds of winning any prize in the Grillin’ & Chillin’ game are 1 in 3.76.
This game offers prizes ranging from $5 to the top prize of $75,000.
“We were camping and I texted my wife to let her know, but she was asleep. When I got back to camp, I brought a big bottle of champagne to celebrate,” Calwell said.
“My wife didn’t believe it. She kept saying, ‘You’re lying!’” she added.
After paying taxes, Caldwell ultimately received a total of $53,625.
Although she has several ideas in mind about how to use that money, she has decided to keep it in the bank for now.
The Frankfort Valero store will earn $750 for selling the winning ticket.
