Bahamian authorities recently deported 16 Cubans.
According to the Cuban authorities, the 16 people arrived by means of a flight from the Bahamas last Tuesday, with 11 men, four women and two minors. Last week, at least 27 Cubans were returned by the authorities of the Coast Guard Service (SGC), according to the figures of the Ministry of the Interior (Minint), in that return operation, 23 men, two women and two minors were repatriated. .
In addition, in a statement from the Minit they affirm that most of the deportees come from the United States, with almost 3,000 migrants. “Throughout 2023 there have been 77 return operations with 3,879 returnees from countries in the area with whom they remain bilateral migration agreements,” the authorities added in the statement.
During the week of April 4, authorities reported 6,202 arrests of rafters from Cuba in the first months of the fiscal year. These numbers exceed the total of 6,182 during the course of the fiscal year of 2022, which begins on October 1.
On the other hand, Cuba also received three other groups of 27, 66 and 24 irregular immigrants this month, in addition to the Customs and Border Protection Office, affirmed that in December 2022 more than 44,000 Cubans arrived at border points for a cumulative 313,488 immigrants throughout that year.
