A Louisiana high school graduate who went missing after diving off the Bahamas from the Blackbeard’s Revenge cruise ship reportedly landed in an area heavily populated by sharks.

Cameron Robbins, 18, was last seen on May 24 swimming off Athol Island.

The area is infested with these sharks, the spokesman for the Royal Bahamas Defense Force, Raymond King, confirmed to the Daily Mail on Tuesday.

Images of the moment after the young man jumped into the water show him swimming while other people from the boat throw him a life preserver and urge him to hold on to it. The teenager, however, appears to be focused on a hazy silhouette in the water and begins to move away from the area.

The video has sparked speculation that Robbins may have been attacked by one of these animals. However, the authorities have not confirmed this version.

The boat, which simulates a pirate ship, remained in the area for several hours while crews tried to locate Robbins, who had graduated from University Laboratory School three days earlier.

The young baseball player was staying at Atlantis Paradise Island in Nassau as part of a trip to celebrate his graduation with students from other area high schools.

Just a few hours before boarding the cruise, the boy had arrived in the Bahamas.

The Coast Guard stopped the search two days later after traveling more than 325 square miles.
