boxer-gervonta-davis-to-go-to-jail-for-allegedly-breaking-house-arrest

The American boxer Gervonta Davis is once again embroiled in controversy. The athlete originally from Baltimore, Maryland, was arrested this Thursday for allegedly violating a house arrest to which he was sentenced a little less than a month ago.

As reported by WBALTV, the Baltimore City Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the boxer was taken to prison after a court hearing for allegedly violating the 90-day house arrest he was sentenced to after pleading guilty to four counts. originating from a hit and run in November 2020.

The ruling on the event, which was three years of probation and 200 hours of community service, occurred just two weeks after “Tank” knocked out Ryan Garcia in the seventh round to retain his four titles. Since then, the 28-year-old boxer has served his house arrest at the home of his trainer, Calvin Ford.

According to ESPN, Michael Tomko, Davis’ attorney, reported that Davis was detained during an “impromptu” hearing on Thursday afternoon and that Davis will serve the remainder of his 90-day sentence in jail.

Davis has a record 29 wins and no losses and, with 27 knockouts, holds the World Boxing Association (WBA) super featherweight and super lightweight belts, as well as the WBA and WBA super featherweight world titles. He is a “Regular” lightweight world champion from the same institution.

Unfortunately, it is not the first time that Gervonta Davis has been involved in a criminal event. In addition to the November 2020 hit-and-run case that injured four people, including a pregnant woman, an arrest warrant was issued for the boxer in 2017 on charges of first-degree aggravated assault after allegedly hitting a childhood friend on the head. However, the alleged victim withdrew the charges in the middle of the trial.
