dmitry-bivol's-manager-ruled-out-the-possibility-of-a-rematch-with-canelo-alvarez

On May 7, 2022, Canelo Álvarez lost the second fight of his career against Dmitry Bivol, since then the Mexican has only been focused on getting a rematch with the Russian to recover the world title in the Light Heavyweight category endorsed by the WBA.

However, his opponent and winner does not seem to be very motivated for a possible rematch, he had even already expressed himself in this regard, commenting that: “I already beat him in that category, why should I give him a rematch?

Now the one who recently came out to comment on Canelo’s request for a rematch was Vadim Kornilov, manager of the Russian boxer, who in an interview for ESPN Knockout ruled out any possibility that there would be a new fight between the two boxers.

“They don’t want revenge. They know that they lost badly in the first fight and that they have less chance of winning in the second. When have you heard of a fighter who after losing asked for a rematch on the same terms? A rematch cannot take place on the same terms as the fight you lost. It’s stupid. We are looking forward, ”explained the manager of the Light Heavyweight champion.

However, in another category there could be the possibility of a rematch. Bivol had commented that: “If he wants to win he might have a better chance at 168 pounds because he said that’s his weight class. For me there must be some motivation and some challenge.”

At the moment Canelo would return to the ring in September and although the rival is not yet known, there are some reports that it will be David Benavidez. They even claim that they sent an irresistible offer for Álvarez to accept.

While Bivol and his team are focused right now on getting a fight with Artur Beterbiyev, who holds the IBF, WBC and WBO Light Heavyweight titles.
