The Spanish singer Alejandro Sanz walks these days with a “broken” heart and not because of a lack of love. He feels sad and tired of battling against the same “demon” faced by millions of people who live trapped in the dark tunnel of depression.
And the fact that this famous artist has found the courage to confess what many suffer in silence deserves more applause than he has received in three decades of his musical career. But beyond supporting those who suffer the same as him, hopefully his confession motivates many to take care of his mental health, regardless of the fact that he has never been depressed.
If many of the psychological problems that cause anxiety, insecurity and depression are rooted in a lack of self-esteem, it is best to worry about constantly valuing yourself and increasing self-esteem.
Accept that it is never too late: No matter how difficult your childhood has been or how many setbacks you have had to go through in life, you can increase your self-esteem at any time; Self-esteem reaches its highest point between the ages of 60 and 70.
Practice self-compassion: Learn to treat yourself with the same kindness, understanding, and care that you give others. Do not criticize yourself, or judge yourself harshly, but give yourself the space and time you need to grow and improve. Also, forgiving yourself for everything that makes you feel guilty is a key component of self-love. It may not be a quick process, but never impossible.
Look more in front of the mirror: Scientific research has confirmed that taking care of appearance and looking good not only beautify, but can also strengthen people’s spirits. Meanwhile, the constant use of makeup has the power to promote mental health and counteract low self-esteem in women.
With these tips I am not saying that the reason why Alejandro Sanz is going through a strong depression is related to his level of self-esteem. However, I can assure you that the healthier anyone’s self-esteem is, the more power they will have to heal a “broken” heart.
