The Mexican Sergio Pérez (Red Bull), second in the Formula One World Championship, who will start eleventh this Sunday in the Spanish Grand Prix, the seventh of the year, declared at the Montmeló circuit that “it has not been an easy weekend, but” that “hopefully” I can come back and “reach the podium”,

“It hasn’t been an easy weekend for me, the conditions were quite difficult and I didn’t feel so comfortable in qualifying. I’ve been trying to change my driving style a bit this weekend and that, as soon as we had variable conditions, put us at a disadvantage”, said ‘Checo’, a six-time F1 winner, two of them this year.

“I simply couldn’t take advantage of the car’s full potential,” said ‘Checo’, born 33 years ago in Guadalajara (Jalisco) and who is second in the World Cup, 39 points behind the 144 with which his teammate, the Dutchman Max, leads Verstappen; that this Sunday he will start from pole position.

“Going into Turn 5 the track was a bit wet and I lost the rear end and ended up in the gravel, so we ended up losing some time, which ended up costing us a lot,” he commented.

“That incident meant that the tires were too hot on my last lap and it was difficult to recover,” added the brave driver from Guadalajara.

“However, I think that everything is possible tomorrow and we are going to try everything to recover the position and go up the positions. I’m really looking forward to the race and I think we should be able to score some good points; and, hopefully, get on the podium”, Sergio Pérez said this Saturday in Montmeló.
