In the press conference prior to the match against Celta de Vigo, the FC Barcelona coach, Xavi Hernández, revived the illusions of the Blaugrana fans by assuring that “he is waiting” for the situation of Lionel Messi, the current player of Paris Saint-Germain, and that he “would like very much” for the Argentine to return to Barcelona.
“I would really like Messi to come back. He knows, I’ve talked to him. It would make me especially excited; not only as a coach, but also as a culé. Leo is a spectacular player (…) but it is a personal decision and he would understand any scenario, ”said the coach from the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.
In this sense, the strategist also referred to the viability plan presented by the culé entity before LaLiga, a project that would allow FC Barcelona to enter at least $214 million dollars to be able to get the necessary signings for next season (especially the de Lionel) and balance their economy: “Regarding the presentation of an offer, it is a matter of the club, the president and Mateu (Germany). I haven’t talked to the players, because maybe we can’t sign and I don’t have to talk to anyone. The situation does not allow me to act. We are on standby. Looking forward.”
According to Hernández, in addition to the signing of Messi, the priority for the club is “the defensive pivot”

Before finishing the press conference, the 43-year-old coach referred to his future at the culé club, assuring that “there will be no problems” with the renewal of his contract, which expires next year: “The president offered me a renewal when We lost the Copa del Rey semifinal. I value the confidence of the club. The renewal will be this week or next. I feel very happy and hopefully we can be together for many years.”
