marco-asensio-announces-his-retirement-from-real-madrid:-“real-madrid-has-been-my-biggest-dream”

The Spanish soccer player and Real Madrid player, Marco Asensio, reported through his social networks that he has reached an agreement with the Merengue team to leave their ranks after not wanting to accept the renewal option with the aim of seeking new airs that allow them to have a greater role on the pitch.

Through an emotional video shared on his social network Twitter, the player thanked the team’s board led by Florentino Pérez and especially all his teammates for the wonderful moments they experienced during the seven seasons in which he defended the white shirt; He assured that he was able to fulfill his greatest dream as a player and now he will look for new goals.

“Dear Real Madrid fans, today I address you with a heart full of mixed feelings. From a very young age, Real Madrid became my passion, my dream and my most precious goal. And I have had the privilege of making this dream come true in these wonderful years”, he expressed.

“I want to express my deepest gratitude to the club, president, board of directors, coaches and all those who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make such a special institution. I also want to mention my teammates; together, we have lived moments of glory, fought in every battle and celebrated unforgettable victories”, he detailed.

Asensio was one of the players in the merengue box who were scheduled to end his contract on June 30; Despite the offer presented by the team’s board for his renewal, the Iberian decided to reject this offer due to the little activity that he has been registering under the orders of Carlo Ancelotti.

The Spaniard’s decision would be based on the fact that he has passed to a secondary role that Asensio has had when he was surpassed by other footballers such as Rodrygo Goes and Federico Valverde, who have become starting pieces of the club.

“But I cannot forget the true raison d’être of Real Madrid, its incredible fans, soul and drive. Your passion, encouragement and unconditional love drive us to give everything in every game and live unforgettable nights. However, the time has come to make a difficult decision. I have decided to embark on a new direction in my career, in search of a project in which I can reach new goals. Thank you, dear Madrid fans, for your unconditional support. We will meet again somewhere on this wonderful path of football. (Signed:) A Madridista at heart, ”he added.

In 285 games played by Asensio with the Real Madrid shirt, he left a mark of 62 goals and 32 assists. Throughout his seven seasons with the capital, he won a total of 3 Champions League, 4 Club World Cups, 3 European Super Cups, 3 Leagues, 1 Copa del Rey and 3 Spanish Super Cups.

For its part, Real Madrid issued a statement in which they thanked him for all the years of service in their ranks and wished him the best of success in his future endeavors.

“Madridistas will never forget his career and his exemplary behavior during all this time. Real Madrid is and will always be his home, and he wishes him and his entire family good luck in this new stage”, they detailed.
