In 1996 Gloria Trevi announced that she would step away from the stage to be the personal caretaker of her then manager Sergio Andrade, who had allegedly been diagnosed with cancer; However, it is now known that it was all a lie that the singer was forced to tell.
In the most recent episode of her podcast “En Boca Cerrada”, María Raquenel Portillo assured that the power of the producer who formed the famous clan was so great that the interpreter of “Cinco Minutos” feared that she would end her career if she did not obey him.
“Gloria spoke with tears that night and said that Sergio had cancer and that he had promised God and the Virgin of Guadalupe that he would not sing again or do more concerts until he was cured. Obviously Gloria lied about her withdrawal because Sergio forced her to do it, “said the singer better known as” Mary Boquitas “.
Finally, María Raquenel recalled that prior to the concert, the singer was very upset by the producer’s attitude, while he walked through all the dressing rooms smiling and made jokes in very bad taste.
“As if I saw the same demon in person”
Raquenel Portillo, who was released from prison in September 2004 and now, 20 years later, tells her truth about the Trevi Andrade case through the podcast “En Boca Cerrada” (Pitaya), shares how she heals from such a trauma and confesses what I would say Sergio Andrade and Gloria Trevi if I had them face to face.
“When I got out of prison, thank God I was declared innocent, but that didn’t mean that I forgot or left behind so much suffering, so much fear that they had imposed on me. I had lost my self-esteem, I had been a co-dependent person, a victim of violence since I was 14 years old.
“I was the first victim of Sergio Andrade, but all these years have definitely helped me to understand and arm myself with courage and, thank God, to finally do this (tell his truth on the podcast).”
- What did you do to heal?
I believe that peace comes from the fact that you begin to love yourself, and that you have self-esteem when you love yourself, take care of yourself and give yourself everything that you as a human being deserve.
- If you saw Sergio Andrade, what would you say to him?
Look, if I saw the same demon in person, hahaha! I don’t hold any grudges against him, on the contrary, I tell him ‘my love, you can’t do it with me, thank you!’, hahaha!”. - And to Gloria Trevi, what would you say?
To everyone I wish peace, I wish love, happiness as I wish for myself and I no longer want to fall into controversies, nor in dimes or bickering or in versions that can later be misunderstood. - What advice would you give, what are the red flags or alerts?
Look, there are many red flags that one has to be… but I think that one of the most important things is that if at any time you detect that the person with whom you are starting any type of relationship does not make you feel good at some point or if you feel that you were disrespected, at that moment you have to say hey! I don’t like this, or you don’t have to continue that relationship.
We suddenly fall into the error that ‘oh, in love everything is worth it, love can do everything!’; ‘Oh, it doesn’t matter, it was a mistake, it’s going to change later!’ People who are sexual predators and psychopaths don’t change no matter how much love you give them, I tell you from experience.” declared Raquenel Portillo, (Mary Boquitas), in an interview with Mezcalent.
