TORONTO, Canada – Canadian Police announced this Friday the arrest of three alleged members of the Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang, whom they accused of attempted murder.
Police identified the three individuals as Carlos Gutierrez, 27, Carlos Peña Torrez, 34, and Kenny Banchon Urbina, 30.
According to the authorities’ account, at the beginning of the year the three were hired by a criminal organization to assassinate an individual.
But on February 12, the defendants shot the wrong person, a 65-year-old individual who was walking his dog on the street in the town of Schomberg, about 63 kilometers north of Toronto.
The victim was shot 13 times and although he was seriously injured, police said he survived the attack and is in the process of recovering.
After several months of investigation, Canadian security forces arrested eight individuals between May 18 and June 1, including the three alleged members of MS-13.
The other five detainees have been identified as Lida Valeria Flores Pineda, 23, Eddie García Corrales, 37, Brayan Jiménez Arguijo, 27, Juan Diego Montsalve Trujillo, 20, and Ronald Alexander Morataya Cruz, 42.
During the investigation, the Police also seized a pistol and an AK-47 assault rifle, as well as cocaine and fentanyl.
